A Teaser for The Twilight Zone Teaser Confirms Jordan Peele as Host

In 2019, a new The Twilght Zone TV series will be produced by BCS Television Studios alongside Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films.  The pair will also be executive producers on the all-new anthology series.

CBS All Access gave a series order to the reboot last December, confirming that The Twilght Zone redux will only be available on the streaming service and not the network itself.  CBS All Access currently houses all previous CBS programming produced by the network, as well as exclusive series such as Star Trek: Discovery.

Last reported, it has been said that production on the small screen reboot would begin later this year with Greg Yaitanes (Heroes, Lost, Castle Rock) overseeing the whole endeavor.  Well today, over on Twitter, Jordan Peele showed off an early teaser that not only confirms a 2019 arrival, but it’s also confirmed he will take over Rod Serling’s role as host of the series.

Last month, Peele told Variety, “The realization, for me, was that it was an opportunity to attempt to continue with Serling’s mission. If we approach it without ego and sort of bow to Serling, that will hopefully suffice for our fellow ‘Twilight Zone’ fans but also bring back a show that I think is needed right now. Because it’s a show that has always helped us look at ourselves, hold a mirror up to society.”

Created and hosted by Rod Serling, the original The Twilight Zone ran on CBS from 1959 and 1964, molding science-fiction, fantasy and horror elements with each episode being a standalone story, usually continuing an ironic plot twist at story’s end.  Serling himself delivered monologues at the beginning and at the end of all of the original run’s 156 episodes.

The Twilight Zone is tentatively schedule to premiere on CBS All Access in 2019.
