On Sunday Night, Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther’ Won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture

This is now the first time the SAG Ensemble Award marked a victory for a superhero film.

The large and talented cast of Black Panther includes Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nygong’o, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Sterling K. Brown, Angela Bassett and Forest Whitaker.

That talented group of actors beat the likes of Crazy Rich Asians, BlacKkKlansman, A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody to take home the top prize of the SAG Awards.

Boseman accepted the award, thanking director Ryan Coogler, producer Nate Moore, producer and exec VP of production Victoria Alonso, Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito, and finally, Marvel Studios chief and mastermind Kevin Feige.

“I’m not gonna forget Kevin Feige. Kevin Feige… and this cast, this ensemble… when I think of going to work every day and the passion and the intelligence, the resolve, the discipline that everybody showed, I also think of two questions that we all have received during the course of multiple publicity runs,” Boseman said.

“And one is, did we know that this movie was going to receive this kind of response, meaning was it gonna make a billion dollars, was it going to still be around during this award season? And the second question is, has it changed the industry? Has it actually changed the way this industry works, how it sees us? And my answer to that is: to be young, gifted, and black,” Boseman continued and you can watch the entire cast accepting the award here:

The hit movie also took the award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble, besting Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, as well as Marvel Studios’ own Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War.
