With production having begun over the past two weeks on the five-episode “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover that entails The CW’s DC Comics TV shows, Warner Bros. Television has released our very first high quality first look at Brandon Routh donning his full costume as an older Superman in the event-series.
The costume that Routh is wearing comes directly off the pages of the “Kingdom Come” version of the Man of Steel and looks to have no connection to Routh’s previous appearance as the classic DC Superhero in 2006’s “Superman Returns”. Routh is one of three other returning Superman actors reprising the role in the mini-series, the other being “Supergirl”‘s Tyler Hoechlin and “Smallville”’s Tom Welling.
“It’s an opportunity for me to kind of say hello and goodbye to the character in a way I didn’t get to the first time,” Routh previously told EW at San Diego Comic-Con. “Being a young individual of 24, 25, I thought, ‘Oh, I’m going to do this for years and make multiple movies.’ And that of course didn’t happen. I’m just very honored to be able to do this one last time.”
To add to that, it was also announced that erstwhile former “Supernatural” star Osric Chau will join the crossover event, playing the role of Ryan Choi/The Atom. Routh portrays Ray Palmer/The Atom in “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and we will also be playing that rold in this event.
The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover will be broadcast on The CW on December 8th-10th and will then take a break for the before returning January 14th with the two-part finale.
